We want everyone to be able to read the work we make and get in touch with us. This statement covers saint-nicolas.co.uk and how we approach accessibility.

Using this website

We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA. You should be able to:

  • resize text up to 200% without losing content or function,
  • zoom to 400% without horizontal scrolling on most pages,
  • navigate the site by keyboard alone,
  • use modern screen-reader tooling (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS),
  • see a clear focus state on every interactive element.

How accessible the site is

The site is hand-built with semantic HTML, descriptive alt text on imagery, sufficient colour contrast, and no auto-playing or moving content. The headings follow a logical hierarchy and links describe their destination.

It has not been formally audited by a third-party accessibility consultancy. We test against automated tooling (axe, Lighthouse) and review changes manually with the techniques above.

Known issues

What we know isn't perfect today:

  • Alt text on case-study galleries is concise rather than exhaustive — we describe the artefact and its context, not every visual detail.
  • Custom display typography (Outfit at heavy weights) may render imperfectly in some legacy screen readers. The body copy uses standard weights and is unaffected.
  • PDF documents (none currently on the site) would need a separate accessibility review if added later.

If you find something that doesn't work for you, please tell us — see "feedback" below.

Feedback

Email info@saint-nicolas.co.uk. We aim to reply within five working days. It helps if you can tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and (if it's relevant) the assistive technology you use.

Enforcement

If you're not satisfied with our reply you can contact the Equality and Human Rights Commission's Equality Advisory and Support Service at equalityadvisoryservice.com.

Technical information

Saint Nicolas is committed to making this website accessible in line with the principles of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. As a private studio we aren't strictly within scope of those regulations, but we use them as our benchmark.

Compliance status. Partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA. The known issues above are the gaps.
